Humor in health information? YES! I've been rocking and rolling in the media since 1999 and now it is time for the podcasting world to learn about health in a fun, non-intimidating atmosphere.

Oh, Hi, I didn't know this had a blog! sorry, I have only looked at the blog on my webpage instead.
I have calcuated the alcohol and basically you have to drink a lot - like 6 beers, 6 four oz wine, or 6 shots of 80% liquor - but in generally it is good to moderate to less than 2 drinks per day.

thanks for blogging and might I put your blog on my page at DrJohnHong.com?

DRJOHNHONG

On a recent TV program you indicated that an allowable daily intake of alcohol was 25 grams. Others have said the same thing and I get the same answer at Northridge and from BodyTalk.

But this leaves me confused because gram is a unit of mass (similar to weight) and not a unit of volume. I read that a gram equals 0.035 ounces, so 25 grams would be seven-eights of an ounce. But I have not found out how to convert a gram of weight into a gram of volume, specifically a volume of alcohol.

Moreover, this cannot be translated directly into the size of a drink unless one knows the percentage of alcohol in the wine or diluted hard drink.

It would be a great service to me, and probably to others, if a more specific guide line could be stated, perhaps broken down into generic wine and generic mixed drinks. Or perhaps an even more useful measure would be the allowable volume of drink at a specific percentage of alcohol.

For example: If I knew that one ounce a day of 100 proof was acceptable, then I could divide to understand that about four ounces of 12 percent wine would not be excessive.

Your program on WVIR is always helpful and enjoyable. I like your sense of humor. Please continue to help us all.

Sincerely,
Kal Howard
